I took a deep breath, clutching my handbag tightly. “Yes, Adrian,” i said, my voice trembling but steady enough. “Your son. I didn’t get the abortion like you wanted me to.”
The room went silent, as if the air had been sucked out. Adrian blinked, clearly stunned by my words. He opened his mouth, then closed it again, at a loss.
“My son?” he finally said, his voice incredulous. “What are you talking about?”
“She’s just some crazy fan,” his father interjected, stepping forward, his tone sharp and dismissive. “Don’t pay her any attention, Adrian.”
My blood boiled. “Crazy fan?” I said, my voice rising. I turned to Adrian’s father, my eyes blazing with anger. “I’m the girl your spent prom night with. Does that ring any bells? Or do you make it a habit to treat people like disposable trash?”
Adrian’s gaze darted to his father, then back to me. Something flickered in his eyes—recognition, perhaps—but it was faint. “Prom night…” he murmured, as though trying to pull the memory from the depths of his mind.
